BR3188 information

| Hi,
First of all sorry for not speaking Russian, this was the only place where I was able to find people that know something about BR3188.
I've got an mp3 player which has a BR3188 chip, together with a h27uag8t2atr Hynix flash memory. The mp3 was sold as a 4GB one and it shows 4GB but the flash is only 2GB.
I'm having some serious problems with it but only after I load some mp3 files so I thought I might put new firmware because the problem might be from the incorrect flash settings.
1. Is there any known way to make a firmware dump from the player ?
2. Is there any way to construct a firmware. I noticed there's a list of flash configurations, how do you set one of those ? Does fusblink28.exe consider these.
3. Did anyone try and connect to the UART of a BR3188 ?
Also thanks Avalon for posting the RK3188 firmwares all firmware br3188.rar. I might just pick one of those and try but I've got no idea which one.
One more thing is that I've found a datasheet for the RK3188 if anyone needs it.

| On the board it says: CF8160C V:2. I can also attach a picture if you need it.

| Here is the picture. Let me know if you need anything more detailed. It's a USB stick that plugs in directly in the USB port and has 2 audio out jacks.

| It doesn't really seem to have brand, it just says digital mp3 player.

| Yes I know but the thing is which one. If I get the wrong one can't it brick my mp3 player ? It was $10 so if it dies that's it but still ... Any hints on which one might work ?

| if the player work .you not need to program it
Chinese player often does not match the memory
this player is unlikely to be 4gB

| Oh I understand what you're saying. The problem is it doesn't work. I'm not sure a firmware flash will fix it but I've no idea what else to try. When I put too many files on it it just fails ... I then have to reformat it to get it working again, otherwise it just freezes when I plug it it in Windows. Doesn't work at all in Linux even though it's mass storage and FAT32. OK thanks for all your help. I have good news at last. At first I managed to completely damage it, it was saying that it's not formatted and then I couldn't even format it. So then I took a risk and just upgraded the firmware to a nanolite model I found:

Now everything works just fine, it shows 2GB as it should instead of 4GB and I'm able to copy files without having problems, copied over 1GB and all is fine.
Not sure if this Nanolite works for everybody and it seems a littly slower to react but I'm happy I got it working properly. Strangely these firmwares seem pretty compatible with one another. Haven't tried FM and it has no uSD card but I don't care about that.
